Never have I ever played the original 2009 version, so I will review this one without being prejudiced.
I'm an 80's kid so for me there's so much nostalgia, loving Ghostbusters, that I played this game with a lot of sympathy.
You play a rookie that joins the crew of ghost hunting legends. They learn you how to capture ghosts and it doesn't matter if you're a noob.
You're the new guy and if you kick ass, you will hear it, if you suck, you will not be burned to the ground (ok, I chose the easy mode, don't know if they're evil on a harder level)
You feel like one of the guys and part of the movie you're playing in, so I felt like a kid in a candy store.
Yes there are a few annoying things in the game play. When you're in the middle of a fight, Stantz talks to you and gives you pointers what to do. But when
you're busy and just paying attention to capturing a wild ghost, that's making noise, running up to you, trying to kill you, you don't have any clue what to do.
"Wrangle it!" "Wrangle it" "Wrangle it"... wrangle what? What do I need to do? "wrangle it"..."wrangle it"... Yes, the guys will explain you once what to do.
The cut scenes are very funny, sometimes a bit iffy, talking without mouths moving and loading times are a bit long.
Catching ghosts can be pretty frustrating at times, if you have one ghost in your proton stream, you need a lot of time to catch them in your trap,
you're defenceless to other ghost that are too close to you and will attack you over and over again. I know it's part of the game, but it made me scream at my tv several times.
No info about the co-op mode, just played it "all by myself", but with Dan Akroyd, Harold Ramis, Bill Murray and Ernie Hudson in their young days.. damn I miss the old days..
